btw should be “met two of my children” and “i have a big family”
i’ve is only for have-as-a-linking-verb, not have-as-in-ownership.
Though you do hear ‘i’ve got a big family’ sometimes. It’s not strictly grammatical but it’s been that way for a long time, using i’ve for posession is very old.

English ain’t easy, man. Especially grammar niggles like these. Even native speakers spend their whole lives learning all the rules.. Honestly you’re doing a great job.
